About Acne

A Good Diet Is the Biggest Step to a Clear Skin

Many people are looking for tips to reduce their acne and often end up changing their diet thinking it to be one of the solutions. It is believed that there exist some sort of connection between diet and the acne. Studies have shown that certain food can indirectly cause acne. Everyone’s body reacts differently to food and so what is good for one individual may be not serving beneficial for other. Certain foods are considered as being problematic when it comes to acne. Many a times, these foods tend to increase hormone levels in the blood, which leads to increased secretion of sebum and greater keratin production, which work together to block pores and result in acne formation.
Why food..??
Certain food may contain high degree of toxins. These toxins prevent liver from functioning properly. As a result more toxins remain in the body and are released in the form of acne later on. For people looking for remedies to cure their acne problem, eliminating foods that cause acne can be of some help. It is definitely worth trying because the diet we take plays a vital role in good health and disease prevention. Foods that are suspected to contribute to acne include caffeine, dairy products and red meat, refined carbohydrates and sugar, processed foods, fats, alcohol, nuts, tuna etc.
How food effects??
Foods containing caffeine tend to increase hormone production. Therefore intake of coffee, cola drinks, tea, chocolate and others should be avoided or minimized. Sugar containing foods like white bread, flour should also be avoided. For some people animal proteins are difficult to digest and this indigestion may lead to collection of toxins in the body resulting in acne.
Consuming alcohol also leads to greater production of the testosterone hormone. Nuts like almonds; walnut, peanuts, pistachios and others may cause acne. Processed foods contain synthetic colors, additives and preservatives that overload the liver and high amount of toxins can trigger acne breakouts. If you want to minimize acne breakouts, you should opt for alkaline foodstuffs and replace acidic foods. Some examples include lettuce, apples, strawberries, oranges, carrots, garlic, lemons, tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, peaches, raisins and pineapples. Citrus fruits work best on reducing the level of acidity from the body.
In addition to these foods there may be a case where a person may be allergic to a certain food and this can also be a contributing factor for acne in that person. For that an effort must be made to remove that food from the diet. To determine if you have a food allergy you need to have your blood tested for antibodies to several kinds of foods.
